Bamboo Goddess Hip Bag

Here is a sampling of some of the kits that will be available. Some have been teamed up with a coordinating lining and some will have a lining of the same fabric. This is only a sampling and I will have even MORE! It will be difficult to decide which one to get…so get as many as you like. Start making your Christmas gifts now.

Speaking of Christmas gifts….wait till you see all the exciting products I am bringing. I will have purse handles that can’t be found in any of the stores. I will have purse feet and magnetic snaps of all kinds (even the kind you can sew in at the last minute). I was in Los Angeles for the Textile show and bought boxes and boxes of feathers, bead fringe, laces, organza roses, beads, ribbon and more.

Before we start sewing, I will have a half hour mini trunk show and demo some techniques to create fabulous bags. Even better than the Mary Francis ones that cost $300! It will get your creative juices flowing. Then we’ll sew the Bamboo Goddess Hip Bag and you’ll leave with a finished project. Clear some space in your sewing room because once we energize you on Saturday….you won’t stop sewing ever again.

Supplies:

Each Bamboo Goddess Hip Bag kit contains all the fabric, muslin, and batting pieces needed to complete your project. It includes the pattern. I will include a handout of helpful hints, how to add pockets on your next bag, and embellishment ideas.
Sewing machine:  bring the free motion foot if you would like to quilt your fabric and/or use decorative stitches available on your machine. Don’t forget the foot pedal if your machine requires it.
Bring a few spools of thread for sewing. I will have many kit colors to choose from. Bring some basic colors such as gray, black, white, blue, green, purple, etc. if you have it. I will be sure to bring some threads too.
Bring some decorative thread for the quilting and/or decorative stitches. You may use embroidery thread, metallic, rayon, etc. Bring the colors you like because almost any color works. If you select colors similar to the colors on your fabric…it will be very subtle. If you use contrasting colors…the threads will really show.
Basic sewing supplies:  Scissors, pins, seam ripper (hope we don’t need it). Bring a pencil. If you have the Fasturn set, bring it. I have a set and will bring mine. We’ll use it to turn the straps right side out while filling it with batting.

Bring a camera to record the steps. Then when you make the next bag you don’t have to read the instructions ! I am so lazy.
